Upcoming Closures and Detours on Shepard Lane and Old Mill Lane

Road Construction 1

  • Shepard Lane: New pavement is in place between the Farmington border and 50 E, but crews still have work to finish in that stretch (raising manholes and valves, portions of sidewalk, landscaping etc), so there is still a lot of construction personnel, equipment and material moving around in that area. The paving crews will now move west and tear out the pavement between 50 E and 1988 S Shepard (near the creek crossing). Shepard Ln will now be closed to through traffic between 50 E and Sunset Dr for this reason.

Although portions of Shepard Ln are complete, significant delays are still expected and all through traffic that is not local (arriving at or departing from locations on Shepard) is encouraged to still avoid Shepard Ln by taking the frontage road on the east side of I-15 to Burton Lane, or by taking 350 E to Kay Dr or 350 E to 2200 S for access to adjacent neighborhoods.

  • Old Mill Lane: On Monday, August 5th, Dominion Gas will be starting a connection from Deseret Dr/Old Mill Ln going east under the rail road tracks and under I-15, tying into 400 W at Center St. This work is expected to take 5-6 weeks. Deseret Dr will be closed between Lodder Dr and Old Mill Ln. The eastbound travel lane of Old Mill Ln will be closed from the west corner of Deseret Dr to 600 W (at the grain towers), while the westbound travel lane on Old Mill will remain open. Gas company crews will have Old Mill Ln open in both directions from 5 pm to 6 am each day. The following detours will be directing traffic:
  • Traffic wanting to go northbound on Deseret Dr will be detoured west onto Lodder Dr, and can go north on Kays Dr, or head west to Flint St.
  • Traffic wanting to go eastbound on Old Mill Ln to get to 200 N will need to take Flint St or Kays Dr to 200 N.
  • Traffic wanting to go eastbound on Old Mill Ln to access homes or businesses between Deseret Dr and 600 W will need to go east on 200 N, then turn south onto 600 W and use the open westbound lanes.
  • Traffic wanting to go westbound on Old Mill Ln to access homes and businesses off of Deseret Dr will be able to go over the tracks and turn south on Kays Dr, then east on Lodder or Brandon, and then turn onto Deseret Dr.

Please be mindful, respectful and safe in all construction zones and recently repaved areas by obeying all speed limits and other traffic laws. Construction work is already stressful and inconvenient enough, and being courteous and obeying traffic laws will help to decrease that stress and impact for everyone. This has been an extremely busy summer in Kaysville that has not made life easy. Whether it’s dust, noise, delays or other issues, we appreciate the patience of residents and businesses as road and utility construction crews work to improve services and infrastructure in town.
